Understanding Food Labels

Proper reading of food labels is an important skill that can significantly improve our ability to make informed nutritional decisions. Understanding food labels helps us choose foods that suit our needs and benefit us. But in most cases, food labels contain a lot of confusing information, contributing to misconceptions. (E.g., the misconception that we should avoid fat entirely because it is inherently harmful). In this lesson, students will learn what food labels consist of, explore some common nutritional misconceptions, and acquire tools for making informed decisions about our diet.
